No-exam life insurance

Learn who qualifies for fast-track underwriting and what happens if you don't qualify for it.

A growing number of carriers use accelerated underwriting: within certain age and benefit limits, they make decisions based on your application and background checks—prescriptions, driving history, other data—instead of requiring a paramedical exam. Approvals can be quick, sometimes within a day. This site tells you whether an exam is required, optional, or not needed for each quote.

What it changes

Accelerated means the underwriting is streamlined, not skipped. The carrier checks your answers against databases and may request an exam or labs if anything raises questions. You're in control of whether to proceed at that point.

Who tends to qualify

Usually people under about 60 who are applying for amounts within the carrier's fast-track limits, with no serious past health events and no tobacco use for a year or longer. Some carriers will also accept recent blood work from a doctor's visit in place of a new exam.

Most exams are 20 to 30 minutes with a paramedic at your home or workplace in the Union City area, at no charge to you. For people with good health, the exam can actually improve your rate class, so it's not necessarily a drawback.
